Neill Campbell received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Systems Engineering, and Ph.D. in Computer Vision from the University of Bristol, before joining as a lecturer in 1996. He has served as Head of Computer Science, and became Head of the Merchant Venturers School of Engineering in 2011. His research interests are centred around the analysis of motion, particularly of human faces and gait. Such analyses are also used to synthesize models using computer animation. He also researches behavioural analysis, most recently in conjunction with the Bristol Veterinary School on the analysis of pigs to assess affective state, and diary calves to compute Social Networks & Hierarchies.
