Andrew Calway is a Reader in Computer Vision. His research interests are in computer vision, robotics and their applications, especially those involving interdisciplinary and industrial collaboration. He has worked in a wide range of areas in vision, including stereo, motion, 3-D reconstruction and tracking. His recent work on real-time 3-D simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) has received widespread recognition and has led to applications in augmented reality, wearable computing and gaze analysis. Previously he led Bristol’s participation in the EU funded project COGNITO, investigating intelligent on-body sensor systems for ‘learning how people do things’, and the EPSRC/IUK funded project ViewNet.
